How To Create Secure Passwords

The best practices for creating secure passwords are:

  • Create a password with at least 16 characters;
  • Combine letters, numbers, and characters in your password;
  • Don’t share your password with anybody;
  • Don’t include personal details, like name, surname, address, or phone number. Pets and kids’ names are also not recommended to use;
  • Don’t use consecutive letters or numbers, like “abc”, “123”, or “qwerty”
  • Avoid dictionary words in passwords, as they can be easily hacked.

Brief Review of All Categories in Security Dashboard

Weak Passwords

This category includes all your saved passwords that can be easily hacked by a brute-force attack. These passwords usually contain names, dictionary words, birth dates and don’t have special symbols, upper and lower-case letters. You will get a notification that you have to change your password to something stronger. The best way to solve this issue is to generate a strong and secure password with our Password Generator.

Reused Passwords

This sector of Security Dashboard will show you identical passwords that are used on multiple accounts. Reused passwords are often the main cause of security breaches on the web. The best practice is to create unique and strong passwords for every single account and not to reuse the same combination of characters in different profiles.

Compromised Passwords

In this category, you will see all related websites and services, where a security breach has been reported. You will have to fix your credentials and change your password to protect from such breaches.

Vulnerable Passwords

This menu contains all items with passwords that have been exposed in a data breach. Hackers usually don’t know that you have used that password, but nevertheless, your accounts are still endangered. It is necessary to change passwords and protect your items.

Expiring Passwords

This category shows items that are expiring soon and need to be fixed. You will be offered to take action. These items usually include bank cards, membership licenses, vehicle registration documents, passports, or driver licenses. You can also set up the period of notification manually to change the password wherever you need.
