What is a password manager?
A password manager is an application developed to store, secure, and manage password, online credentials, and other personal information. Usually, these passwords and info are stored in a database protected by encryption, master password, and other measures. Some password managers, like Passwarden, also offer other features, e.g. generating secure passwords, additional account protection, convenient data migration, etc.
Should I use a password manager?
As any internet user knows full well, when creating a new profile on a website, it’s highly recommended to use a long, strong, and unique password. However, many decide that such passwords are too cumbersome, and prefer to use a single short password everywhere.
Password managers are a great way to both follow best practices in strong passwords AND keep them manageable at the same time. The only password you will have to remember is that from the Passwarden account - our password manager will do the rest!
Why should I choose the Passwarden password manager?
First of all, Passwarden is a highly encrypted storage for all your valuable data: passwords, account credentials, credit card details, important notes, and whatnot.
Secondly, Passwarden offers lots of security features such as AES-256 and ЕС р-384 protocols, client-side end to end encryption, 2FA, and Duress mode.
Last but not least, you can use our secure password manager on any number of devices.
Do Passwarden employees have access to my unencrypted information?
No, we do not have access to unencrypted passwords and other data you store in our vaults. This ensures total protection of your sensitive information. For example, even in the event that authorities issue a court order, Passwarden will not share information since we've got nothing to share (in that case, only metadata can be shared, but not the secrets as encryption happens on the end user devices).
Whenever we need to verify your passwords (e.g. when you log in with your password or if you enable Dark Web monitoring), only a small part of the hash of the password is sent to the API as per the haveibeenpwnd protocol. It's impossible to reverse the process and learn your password.
